Is Nile Rodgers Bald? Oh and is he all that?
HIs head gear and barnet look suspiciously like a Rasta version of the ginger scotch wigs and hats they so hilariously wear at football and rugby matches.

Oh and he must be in his 80s by now so he is allowed to be bald.

Personally I think his music is shite.

You can’t argue with his influence and his propensity for hitmaking. Just look at who he has worked with and what they created together.

Maybe you could argue it’s a bit samey and a variation on a theme, but fair play to the man. Seems like a good humble dude. Great doc on him on the BBC recently.

No offense meant, Winstone. I still know pro writers who refer to vocal chords. When it's is CORDS.

He may be a touch boasty, but his ego-mania palls into insignificance when compared with , say, Quincey Jones, Phil Spector, and yes, George Martin.

Surf, I have no doubt he is, but I was referring to his own talent.

I think you'll find that Mr Rodgers is hugely modest when it comes to giving due credit to his partner, Mr Edwards.

This is a good watch to show his ‘talent’.

My only gripe with Nile is that HE is his biggest fan, not and ounce of modesty to be found, still a fucking genius though.

Oh, and geoffpikey, barre, my bad.

Nile Rodgers started as a jazz player. His chording (it's barre, not bar, BTW) is second to none.

Shit audio on this Masterclass, but if you play guitar - and I do - it's bamboozling. He KNOWS music. And has wizard fingers.

Nile Rodgers is the reason I have a silver pickguard on my white Stratocaster. Hoping it will channel 3% of his talent. Hasn't worked yet!

Whether you like his music or not is a matter of opinion. But, as Ray said, his production work cannot be denied and the hits he has written and produced for others are many.

I also find it very hard to believe that any person could slag him off for anything really. Very strange.

Musically he’s made a career out of the Strat high neck bar chord disco vibe but I think his real talent lies in production, his work with Bowie et al has been superb.

Nile Rodgers is clearly a talented guy who's come up with some great riffs, but he's also a charming feller who's quite an Anglophile.
And his music crosses the decades. My son's 29 and has seen him three or four times and thinks he's great.

For everyone that says he’s milking it, remember what an expensive cunt the American medical system is.

Dick Dale had to keep performing until he died to pay for his medical bills.

Au contraire - he is definitely somebody.

Nile Rodgers is a poor man's Tony Hadley. Fuck him. If he was white, he'd be a nobody.

40 years, 1Billy.

Otherwise, I concur. When he retires/goes, he should be remembered as one of pop's greatest ever writers/guitarists/arrangers/producers. He's a colossus, FFS.
May be milking it right now, but fair play.

He has a "style", yes, but nearly everything he touches turns to gold.

Spins: Sister Sledge: "Thinking Of You". Nile and Bernard Edwards on fire.

Mark King is just a boring muso show off one trick pony with shit songs that no one under the age of 50 has heard.

Not fit to tie the shoelaces of Bernard Edwards.

Re: Is Nile Rodgers Bald? Oh and is he all that?
Yes he is all that. The sound he and Edwards conjured up is one of the most distinctive of the last 30 years and his contribution to music generally cant be overstated.

Re: Is Nile Rodgers Bald? Oh and is he all that?
"a poor mans Mark King"

Hahahaha hahahahahahha hahahahah and hee.

Next week: Bob Dylan: just a Poundland Ed Sheeran?

BTW, Rodgers may well wear a wig. He's been through two bouts of cancer (prostate and kidney) and I imagine chemotherapy / treatment takes its toll. I can forgive him for that at 66. He only recently stated, last month, that he was now "100% cancer free."
